ABC Friends Queensland Committee member, Vikki Uhlmann, visited the Cairns ABC studio recently and talked to the Chief of Staff. Apparently, things are going well at present, with good audience feedback. They have sufficient staff (12-15), some of whose contracts will be continued when the social media funding deal that enabled them, ends.

The studio is cyclone resistant, a good thing in this location, and their equipment is up to date. So, they can continue to broadcast during an emergency without stretching resources.
