ABC Friends Victoria hosted another spectacular annual dinner on November 21, 2025, bringing together passionate supporters of Australia's public broadcaster for an evening of celebration, insight, and connection.

The sold-out event at William Angliss Institute showcased why this has become one of the calendar's most anticipated gatherings for ABC advocates.
The evening's highlight was undoubtedly the keynote address from Hugh Marks, ABC Managing Director. Introduced by Cassandra Parkinson, ABC Friends National President, Hugh delivered a frank and forthright presentation that left attendees genuinely inspired about the ABC's future direction. His enthusiasm was infectious, and participants appreciated his candid approach to discussing both the opportunities and challenges facing Australia's national broadcaster.
Victorian President Pam Creed expertly chaired the proceedings, ensuring the evening flowed seamlessly from one moment to the next. The program featured popular ABC Radio presenter Jacinta Parsons, who shared her own passion for public broadcasting and the vital role ABC Radio plays in connecting communities across Australia. Her insights resonated deeply with the audience, many of whom are devoted ABC Radio listeners themselves.
The premiere of the latest NewGen video added another dimension to the evening, highlighting the next generation's connection to the ABC and the importance of public broadcasting for Australia's future.
However, the night wasn't without its humbling moments—the traditional ABC trivia quiz proved challenging even for this room full of dedicated ABC supporters, with no one managing to answer every question correctly!
Beyond the formal program, attendees enjoyed the warm hospitality that has become synonymous with these events. William Angliss Institute once again delivered exceptional food and service, while stirring musical performances added to the evening's atmosphere.
The combination of excellent cuisine, entertainment, and meaningful conversation about protecting Australia's public broadcaster created the perfect environment for like-minded advocates to connect and strategise. For those who attended, it was another memorable night that reinforced the strength of the ABC Friends community.
For those who missed out, mark your calendars now—this annual event is simply not to be missed.
