ABC TOP 5 - Applications for 2023 closing soon

Sorry for the late notification to anyone currently at university undertaking a PhD, unless you are quick, this might be of interest to those looking ahead to 2024.

Applications are now open for the 2023 ABC TOP 5 media residencies

The ABC is searching for Australia’s next generation of inspiring research communicators.

Each year, the program puts out a call to Australia’s higher education sector and research organisations to find the top 5 early research career PhD scholars in three categories: Science, the Humanities and the Arts.

The 15 researchers-in-residence spend two weeks working alongside the ABC’s award-winning journalists and producers, learning first-hand about the craft of delivery through radio, television and digital platforms.

How much does it cost? The program is delivered at no cost to universities or participants, and includes travel and accommodation.

The TOP 5 is now in its ninth year and boasts 80 alumni with many becoming leading commentators in their fields and mentors for other early career researchers.

You too can be part of this unique program by applying for the 2023 intake.

Applications are open now and close at 11.59pm (AEST) Sunday 14May 2023.

Who can apply for the TOP 5 program?
