David Collins is a former ABC cinematographer and documentary filmmaker who worked on landmark programs including Four Corners, Big Country, and Australian Story. During his career he has collaborated with respected journalists such as Andrew Ollie, and travelled internationally for major assignments—including a trip to Cuba for Four Corners. 

A photojournalist at heart, David has spent decades documenting important moments and telling powerful stories from behind the lens. In his reflections on his career, he shares personal accounts of life in the field and what it was like to capture events as they unfolded. He also reflects on the crucial role of the ABC and its tradition of independence in Australian public life.

Over the years, David has worked alongside prominent journalists including Leigh Sales and filmed interviews with Australian prime ministers and other significant figures.
