Gore Hill Walk: Remembering the ABC Television Studios that Shaped Australia

Join former ABC film editor, cameraman and television producer Mike Honey who will share his memories of the time he worked at the ABC’s former television studios at Gore Hill in the 1970s.

This guided walking tour will start at St Leonards Railway Station, then walk through the Royal North Shore Hospital, Gore Hill Memorial Cemetery and finally to the Gore Hill business park where the former ABC Television Tower and Studios were once located.

The ABC’s Gore Hill studios, established in 1956, forged Australia’s national identity through its pioneering and award-winning television broadcasts in news, current affairs, drama, comedy, documentary and children’s programs and ABC TV programs including 7.30 Report, Four Corners, Australian Story and Play School.

The ABC Gore Hill Television Studios closed in the early 1990s relocating to a purpose-built combined TV-radio studio in Harris Street, Ultimo that opened in 1991 and more recently to Parramatta.
