Our Northern Branch invites you come along and watch the video of the speech delivered by ABC Chair, Ita Buttrose AC, OBE, at our May event in Hobart.
The video runs for about half an hour and we will have a discussion afterwards about the key ideas shared by Ms Buttrose and how we might use them in Tasmania as we approach a vital election for our ABC.
This is the first event for our newly invigorated Northern branch. We have been wonderfully well led in the North by Anne O’Byrne, our only Life Member, over more years than she might care to remember. She has proven very difficult to replace. Our new Northern Convenor, Polly Flanagan, has agreed to take on the role with the backing of a strong team.
Polly has moved back to her home State after 35 years in Melbourne where she held a variety of leadership positions in a number of independent schools. She is passionate about the ABC and believes it must be fully supported at all costs. Together with Northern members of the Tasmanian Committee (Anne Layton-Bennett and Kevin O’Dea), the new team includes Linda Booth, Rebecca Gottschalk, Walter Pritchard, Gael Vizard and Marita Bodman.
The team is keen to engage members through interesting gatherings, avoiding formal meetings where possible. They would all love to meet you as they re-launch the Northern branch.
Entry is free but, due to COVID restrictions, registration is essential to ensure we do not exceed allowable numbers for the venue. If you can help us with venue hire by making a donation, that would be greatly appreciated.
You can buy your own drinks at the venue.
