Host, Tahlea Aualiitia, will present the latest news and information from the region's most trusted reporters.

ABC Friends campaigned over many years for increased funding for ABC International after the Abbott government stripped the service of $200 million in 2014. In Opposition, Labor promised to allocate an additional $32m over four years for ABC programs and services to Pacific nations, and the new funding was allocated in the 2022 budget.

ABC Friends National President, Cassandra Parkinson, was delighted to attend the launch to celebrate this achievement.

"Thanks to you, our ABC Friends for supporting our campaign," she said. "We’ll continue to press for more funding for a rejuvenated ABC International."

‘The Pacific’ airs on the ABC News channel at 9.30pm on Thursdays or on iView. It will screen on networks throughout the Pacific region.
