ABC Friends Illawarra operates under the umbrella of ABC Friends NSW/ACT. We encourage all Friends to join ABC Friends NSW/ACT - please click here.

From 12 October 2015 we no longer offer 'local' (associate membership). When you join ABC Friends NSW/ACT if you agree, your contact details will be provided to ABC Friends Illawarra and you will be part of your local branch. We will send you details of local activities etc.

Around 200 angry protestors massed outside the Wollongong Town Hall on Friday 21 November 2014 
to protest the cuts to ABC funding announced by Communications Minister Turnbull a couple of days before.

The rally was addressed by Stephen Jones MP (Throsby) and Sharon Bird MP (Cunningham), both members
of ABC Friends Illawarra. Local Greens Councillor Jill Merrin and Labour Council Secretary Arthur Rorris 
also addressed the crowd.
