ABC Friends WA held a stall at Bassendean Sunday morning market, 26 May 2024

We had not been to this market before, but the organiser welcomed us at short notice and there was no charge for a community group.

The market is held only on the last Sunday of the month, and we were lucky with the beautiful weather, as a week later the first fronts of winter arrived in Perth. The sun was in our eyes as we headed out along Guildford Road in the morning.

It was a well-run event, and we were able to park our main car right behind our space, which is very convenient for the unloading of marquee, table, chairs and suitcases of merchandise. People came through the market most of the morning and everyone seemed to be in a good mood. Lots of young families, but most of the people who spoke to us were older. We sold a number of discounted T shirts and gave out lots of flyers – the one ‘Why follow the ABC?’  was popular with supporters with less enthusiastic friends and family! This flyer rebuts various criticisms we have heard before.
