ABC Friends Victoria: Strengthening foundations for the year ahead

The 2025 Annual General Meeting marked an important milestone, with members approving significant updates to foundational documents while reaffirming confidence in the leadership team.

Articles of Association: Aligned and future-ready

Members approved changes to the Articles of Association that bring ABC Friends Victoria into closer alignment with ABC Friends Ltd nationally. The revised goals and purposes now mirror those of the national body, ensuring we're speaking with a united voice across Australia. Meanwhile, new wording around membership categories and fees provides the flexibility we need while maintaining clear transparency.

This careful revision required meticulous attention to detail. Particular thanks go to Gai Mooney and Sarah Stephen, whose dedication ensured every word was just right and every procedural requirement was met. The updated Articles will be available on our website soon, and questions can be directed to the Victorian office ([email protected]).

Committee of Management: Experience Meets Renewed Energy

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! The AGM elected what might be called a "new old" Committee of Management for 2026. All eleven members of the 2025 Committee were re-elected - a strong vote of confidence - and they're joined by returning member, Ivor Donahue.

While the faces may be familiar, this team is re-energised and ready for 2026's advocacy challenges. And there's room for more voices as ABC Friends Victoria operates through four governing subcommittees that you can find out more about by contacting the Victorian office.

Welcome, Goulburn Valley ABC Friends!

Exciting news from regional Victoria: we now have a Goulburn Valley ABC Friends Group!

What began as scattered interest among supporters in Bendigo, Echuca, and Shepparton has coalesced into a dynamic new group with ambitious plans. They're organising a February launch event featuring Jon Faine, planning farmers market stalls, and already discussing visits to community houses, U3A groups, and retirement villages.

Convenor Robert McLean is leading the charge and can be contacted through the Victorian office for anyone wanting to get involved.

Join us for the launch of the new ABC Friends Goulburn Valley Group on February 19th with former ABC morning host Jon Faine. More details here.

Refined governance, experienced leadership, and growing regional presence position ABC Friends Victoria strongly for the advocacy challenges ahead.
