
Distinguished commentator and former journalist Peter Kennedy will join us after the business of the AGM.
Peter joined ABC Radio in Perth in 1990 and presented both the Drive and Morning programs. He also anchored the weekly TV current affairs program Stateline after the locally produced 7.30 Report was axed in 1995. He was appointed State Political Reporter for ABC TV News in 2000, and held the post till his retirement in 2010, when he joined the University of Notre Dame Australia as an adjunct professor.
Peter is Perth-born and educated, and graduated from both the University of WA and Claremont Teachers’ College, starting his working life as a high school teacher in Bunbury. He switched to journalism in 1970 when he joined The West Australian. He later reported politics for The Sydney Morning Herald in both Sydney and Canberra, before returning to Perth as press secretary to Deputy Premier Mal Bryce in 1984.
Peter is the author of Tales from Boom Town – Western Australian Premiers from Brand to McGowan, and a former WA president of the Australian Journalists Association.
