May Day
We will have a stall at the May Day Festival on Sunday 3 May 2026 at the Esplanade, Fremantle. May Day is a family friendly event. There will be children’s rides and stalls from 10.30 am with a free sausage sizzle after the rally! There are a range of community stalls. The union march through Fremantle is scheduled for 12:00 pm, and is a stirring spectacle. Fremantle station is not far away, and there is a car park next to the park. Come along and chat to our volunteers, or buy some merch.
Journalism scholarship
ABC Friends WA is offering a new scholarship of $2000 annually to a current student at one of WA’s universities. The aim is to progress independent, fact-based journalism, while seeking to assist a deserving student to continue to pursue a career in a journalism-related area. Save the date for dinner!
We are holding a dinner at the Subiaco Hotel on Tuesday 21 July, in honour of 30 years of efforts to support the ABC in WA. Charlotte Hamlyn, who presents the 7 pm TV News on Fridays to Sundays, is our speaker. Save the date!
