The ABC Friends WA are offering a scholarship to assist a student to continue and complete their studies with a view to a career in investigative journalism.

ABC Friends WA Journalism Scholarship

Eligibility

Applications should be submitted via the Apply now button after 18 May. Any inquiries should be addressed to [email protected]. Submissions must be received prior to the end of business on the closing date of 28 August 2026.

Applications must include -

1. Supporting documentation establishing satisfaction of the eligibility criteria
2. A statement by the applicant addressing the selection criteria;
3. Two referees who are able to confirm the candidate's eligibility, from personal knowledge.

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, an applicant must -

1. be an Australian citizen or permanent resident;
2. have completed at least one year of full-time study towards a degree in a course relating to journalism;
3. be enrolled in the current year.

Objective

The ABC Friends WA offers this scholarship to progress independent, fact-based journalism, seeking to assist a deserving student to continue to pursue a career in a journalism-related area.

The scholarship winner will be announced October 2026.

Applicants will be notified of the results by email after the winner has been chosen.

The decision of the award panel will be final.

The selection committee reserves the right to adjust the process, with discretion applied, as may be required.
