ABC Friends certainly made its presence felt at Adelaide Writers’ Week

As thousands of people enjoyed wandering around Adelaide Writers’ Week, listening to talks and purchasing books, ABC Friends were making sure they were highly visible.

ABC Friends at AWW

The massive organising effort by the South Australian and Victorian divisions started with a highly visible ABC Friends ad in the program’s online and printed program and the creation of special ABC Friends/Adelaide Writers Festival bookmarks.

Then, during the Week itself, banners were placed prominently and bookmarks made available at the entry information desk and where people purchased books.

Some 15 volunteers spent their time handing out bookmarks to people waiting in line to have books signed and at the exit of the sales tent. By week’s end, all 3000 bookmarks had gone!

Volunteers also handed out membership brochures and talked to attendees, with volunteers reporting very favourable responses at all times.

Conversations also took place with a huge number of the writers featured at the event – all of whom were very happy to have their photos taken with people such as ABC Friends SA President, Daryl Regan, and to display the bookmarks and other Friends material prominently.

Attendees at six of the Festival sessions were then able to see through the screens on stage that these events were sponsored by ABC Friends.

Thank you to everyone involved in making sure everyone who attended this wonderful event knew that ABC Friends were there flying the flag.
