Under a Federal legislated charter, the ABC is required to provide broadcast and digital services which inform, entertain, educate, and contribute to a sense of national identity while reflecting the cultural diversity of the Australian community.
An important component of this is news and investigative journalism the community can trust.
In this era of misinformation, disinformation and wilful bias, democracies around the world are under threat.
Consequently, the importance of the ABC as a strong, fearless, and independent media organisation providing the services described in the charter, is now greater than ever. Our democracy depends on it.
Our function therefore is to continually find ways of engaging with like-minded organisations and the community at large to provide the support both human and financial to advocate for the funding and editorial independence of the ABC.
To do this work we are developing working groups covering Membership, Communications, Political Advocacy, Regional Awareness and Events.
To achieve this we need your support to empower our advocacy through the growth of our membership and supporter base with particular focus on the new generation
