Podcast of the month: Double Take

Each month we will recommend a podcast – let us know your suggestions.

Podcast of the month

This month, we suggest you catch up with Double Take and its latest podcast in a monthly series on the big news in media.

With media objectivity and impartiality discussed frequently – particularly in the context of the Gaza conflict - long-time ABC foreign correspondent, Monica Attard, talks to new ABC Chair, Kim Williams, about whether these are still important tenets of public interest journalism, and whether they can be achieved in more culturally diverse newsrooms dealing with increasingly complex stories.

Double Take is presented by the UTS Centre for Media Transition. Each episode includes an interview with a stakeholder in the issue being discussed – someone with “skin in the game”.

Over the past year, episodes have included interviews with whistle-blower Bernard Collaery about national security, media lawyer, Michael Bradley on defamation versus free speech and ABC journalists Tracey Kirkland and Gavin Fang about news reporting post-pandemic.
