Submissions to the Review of Independent National Broadcasters and Trust in Media

In August 2023 submissions were requested by the Federal Minister for Communications, Michelle Rowland, for a review on options to support the independence of Australia's two prominent national broadcasters, ABC and SBS.  These submissions are now publicly available.  If you would like more information on this review or to look at submissions, please go to review website (scroll to the bottom of the web-page to find submissions).  We look forward to the completion of this review and hopefully the implementation of policies that will ensure appropriate funding and appointments to governance positions.

In respect to appropriate governance, this should include ending the use of captains picks, where ministers override the candidates identified by selection committees.

Appropriate governance also feeds into the trust that people have for our independent national broadcasters; Reuters' Trust in News project.
